Abstract
The First Generation is a fictionalized autobiography set somewhat in the Midwest. It is an exploration of the space between fiction and nonfiction that plays out over a multi-generational study of domestic life. The protagonist opens the collection, only to be quickly discarded and recycled through the machinery of the later pieces.
