In this thesis, we consider a large population of mobile stations that are interconnected by multihop wireless networks. DNS Based Routing Protocol is introduced for use in the multi-hop wireless ad hoc networks. In this protocol, each node knows the node connectivity within its reachable set; some nodes have DNS capability, which are responsible for route discovery. The routing is performed on two levels: Local node and terrestrial Global IP. By using DNS technique, the performance of the networks is highly improved. Simulation results give the characteristics and functionalities of the protocol, including forwarding latency, overhead cost, total transmission delay and network throughput. This routing protocol supports real-time streams.
