Technology is in a constant state of evolution, and our history is littered with miraculous inventions. However, one invention stands out with particular significance: the internet. In the future, I imagine people will look back and realize that what we created was not just a series of interconnected computers but—godlike— a whole new world. Lily’s Story is a novel concerned with the role of humanity in this increasingly technological and internet-centric world. It aims to examine traditional conceptions of humanism in the face of post-humanism and artificial-intelligence, and the function of the physical in a society that is becoming exponentially more digital. By blurring the lines between the real and the unreal, I hope to inspire the reader to reconsider the line that divides the two.
