ABSTRACT Although several articles have been written on music therapy assessment in geriatric contexts and specifically for persons living with dementia, it seems that intake assessments are not being conducted in consistent ways and that music interventions are not being integrated into the multidisciplinary care plans of persons living with dementia. In order to lay the foundation for creating a more standardized approach to initial music therapy assessment processes for persons living with dementia, it is important to identify and better understand the assessment processes and tools that exist to date. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to conduct a systematic literature review to identify and describe music therapy assessment tools and/or processes for PLWD.
