Abstract
This thesis is the product of a heuristic methodology using creation as research. Walking back through the studio door, Yetman immerses herself in art making in the hopes of discovering the relationship between three identities: artist, educator, and activist. A series of work using the body and gestures become the catalyst to personal and professional growth. Gestures in drawing become the metaphor of action (movement) and the result is unexpected: a greater involvement in the politics of education and unionism. In the end, new knowledge was presented through a creative presentation, a live art performance.
