Thesis Deposit Checklist
Thesis Deposit Checklist
The Thesis Office manages the review of thesis deposits in Spectrum. To preserve publicly funded research and meet degree requirements, the Thesis Office outlines the criteria that must be followed. On their thesis submission process page you will find details on the required criteria, examples of common problems, sample pages for Master's and Doctoral theses, and a Thesis Mock-Up document. It is worth budgeting a whole day for the thesis submission (before the deadline), as failure to follow the mandatory criteria will result in the need to resubmit.
Prepare your thesis before deposit
Follow the mandatory elements for all theses:
- Review the Thesis Non-Exclusive Licence, which you agree to when depositing.
- Convert the Thesis to PDF/A format for digital preservation.
PDF/A file follows the naming convention: LastName_Degree_ConvocationYear
- Example for Spring MA: LastName_MA_S2022
- Example for Fall PhD: LastName_PhD_F2022
For all theses, mandatory formatting details have been followed for these components:
- Title page
- Signature page
- Abstract
- Body of thesis
- Bibliography or references
- Page numbering
- Table of contents
If included, formatting details have been followed for these components:
- Acknowledgements
- Appendices
- Dedication
- List of symbols, abbreviations, and glossary
Is your thesis in another language, or is it a manuscript-based or a research-creation thesis?
- Mandatory for theses in a language other than English or French: a summary is included and is of sufficient length per thesis formatting details.
- Mandatory for manuscript-based theses: a Contribution of Authors page is included per thesis formatting details.
- Important for research-creation theses: supplemental material is included in a single Spectrum deposit. Supplemental files should follow Spectrum Guidelines on file formats and file size.
Strongly Recommended
Consider the benefits of having an ORCID ID, get started with ORCID, and consider connecting Spectrum to ORCID.
Once your thesis is ready, deposit
