Abstract

In 2013, national libraries around the world began implementing the new metadata standard for cataloguing RDA: Resource Description and Access. This presentation focuses on some of the key concepts that academic libraries, public libraries, school libraries, and special libraries might consider when implementing RDA, including using RDA for copy cataloguing and original cataloguing, training cataloguing staff, changes to the OPAC, communicating with non-cataloguing staff, hybrid records, and machine manipulation of legacy data. The numerous resources and tools listed throughout the presentation, including from the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) and the Library of Congress (LC), provide additional information to assist libraries with their implementation of RDA.
