Abstract

This study explores the researcher’s exploration with three different Goddesses through the method of heuristic inquiry (HI) and how by using specific dramatic techniques as the
primary heuristic process, the findings can be relevant for the field of Drama Therapy (DT). Embodiment and dramatic enactment are the core therapeutic processes employed from DT and used through improvisational body movement and personification of each of the goddesses’ characters (Persephone, Artemis and Athena). There is a brief literature review about the Goddesses myths and how these Goddesses have been used in therapeutic practice. The findings are described and analysed according to Laban Movement Analysis Approach (LMA) for the movement exploration as well as according to the researcher’s observations before, during and after the personifications. From the findings it is explained how the exploration of the goddesses Persephone, Artemis and Athena through Drama Therapy processes facilitated transformations
regarding self-understanding and empowerment in the researcher.
