Abstract

La surdité est une limitation physique invisible dont le diagnostic tardif semble atteindre les habiletés de l’enfant à communiquer. Cette recherche qualitative propose le développement théorique d’un outil d’intervention narratif dont les objectifs sont de faciliter la communication et l’expression de l’enfant sourd gestuel, à savoir un livre-textile. Les questions posées sont les suivantes : comment le livre-textile (LT) peut-il être employé dans le cadre de séances d’art-thérapie pour faciliter la communication avec l’enfant sourd gestuel d’âge scolaire (4-10 ans)? De quelle manière et avec quels matériaux textiles devrait-il être confectionné? Appuyée par les écrits relatifs aux interventions en art-thérapie auprès de cette clientèle, et suite à une recension des publications sur le développement et les besoins spécifiques des enfants sourds gestuels, cette recherche décrit les objectifs thérapeutiques de cet outil narratif (LT), ses composantes techniques et ses fonctions symboliques, ainsi que le cadre d’intervention requis afin de favoriser l’expression émotionnelle de l’enfant sourd gestuel et faciliter les interactions entre l’enfant et l’art-thérapeute dans le cadre de séances d’art-thérapie non-directives, et dans une perspective développementale.
