Abstract
The stories in my thesis collection, Ruin Porn, are primarily concerned with the ethics of narrative, exploring the intricacies of paralinguistics, positionality in and out of artistic spheres, moral semantics, and the burden of emotional responsibility. These stories examine the role of the storyteller — some of whom are unreliable narrators — and their chosen medium. Present throughout the collection is a desire to investigate the expository narrative; to scrutinize and break it apart in order to ascertain what, and who, is at stake when telling stories.
