Abstract
This thesis occurs over the ten-day waiting period that Track 1 MAID patients must undergo before the procedure can be performed. We follow Syd’s waiting period as they deliberate on what’s come before and what may be coming next.
As a conceptual speculative poetic journey, this project is inspired by medical poetic collections such as Adam Dicksinson’s Anatomic, Jim Johnstone’s King of Terrors, and experimental works such as Adam Haiun’s I Am Looking for You in the No-Place Grid. The guiding research questions of post-death real estate are: How may a poem function as a measure of life? How many more emails do I have to send before I can die? And, finally, how can the poem attempt to stay alive after the final page?
