RÉSUMÉ
Mémoire individuelle et mémoire collective chez Michel Rabagliati

Ce mémoire est consacré à la série Paul de Michel Rabagliati. Il examine la façon dont la mémoire individuelle, qui est la matière première des récits de Rabagliati, se déploie en parallèle avec la mémoire historique ou collective. Dans le premier chapitre, la situation de narration rétrospective propre à la série Paul est présentée et problématisée. Le deuxième chapitre aborde les « lieux de mémoire » variés du Québec des années 1960 et 1970 visibles dans la série. Ces lieux de mémoire — objets, évènements, lieux topographiques et intertextes — construisent une certaine vision de l’histoire et de la mémoire collective. Le troisième chapitre analyse la représentation de soi que dévoile la série. L’analyse permet de comprendre comment le regard rétrospectif du narrateur construit une sorte de roman d’apprentissage de Paul et contextualise l’évolution personnelle du personnage dans l’histoire. L’ensemble permet à Rabagliati de traverser plusieurs époques, de faire évoluer son personnage et de mettre en scène des éléments qui font naitre une nostalgie particulière chez le lecteur.

ABSTRACT
This paper studies the series Paul by Michel Rabagliati. It examines the way in which individual memory, which is the raw material of Rabagliati's narratives, unfolds in parallel with historical or collective memory. In the first chapter, the retrospective narrative situation of the Paul series is presented and problematized. The second chapter deals with the various 'places of memory' of Quebec in the 1960s and 1970s. These places of memory - objects, events, topographical places and intertexts - build a certain vision of history and collective memory. The third chapter analyzes the self-representation of the series. The analysis allows us to understand how the narrator's retrospective view constructs a coming-of-age story and contextualizes the personal evolution of the character in it. The ensemble allows Rabagliati to go through several decades, to evolve his character and to stage elements that give rise to a particular nostalgia for the reader.
